About Rhinoplasty

The goal of a rhinoplasty is to modify the Size of the nose by reducing some bulging portions and increasing others.
The Shape can be improved with correction of a nose which is too large, too long, too small, when there is a wide or a projecting tip, a bump, a deviated septum etc...

Using concealed incisions, the surgeon removes any excess of bone and/or cartilage. In some cases cartilage grafts are placed to help remodel the nasal framework.

The result will mainly depend on the skin quality (a thin and elastic skin will better redrape the underlying work made by the surgeon than a thick skin). All deformations of the nose can be improved whether they are small or important. A small retruded chin should be augmented in conjunction with rhinoplasty to create a better balance of features.

Rhinoplasty can be practiced from age 14 to 15, especially if there is a deviated septum.

Great attention and expertise is needed in patient who has aesthetic and functional problems after one or several rhinoplasties. The objectives of reconstruction is always to restore both nasal anatomy and function, and to achieve this, placement of grafts in the resected areas is often required (these grafts are most frequently taken from the septum, inside the nose).
